The Walther Hammerli Tac R1 is a new .22 LR modern sporting rifle with AR-pattern controls. It has a 16.1-inch barrel, a 13-inch M-LOK handguard, and a five-position MFT Minimalist adjustable stock. The rifle is optic ready, includes flip-up iron sights, and comes with one 20-round magazine. The overall length is 32.5 inches and the weight is 5.25 pounds. The manual safety is ambidextrous. The 32.5-inch overall length sets the rifle's size for range work.

This rifle suits training, instruction, and recreational plinking, which the supplier names as its roles. The AR-pattern layout gives new shooters practice with familiar controls. The .22 LR chambering keeps the cost of each round low, so the rifle works well for long practice sessions at the range.
