The Savage Arms Axis XP Left Hand is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .223 Remington. It has a 22-inch matte black barrel, a black synthetic stock and an overall length of 42.5 inches. The rifle weighs 7.6 pounds and uses a detachable box magazine. A 3-9x40 scope comes included with the rifle.

The controls are set up for left-handed shooters, and the two-position top tang safety gives manual control. The .223 suits varmint and target work. Ohio's deer rifle rules list straight-walled cartridges only, and this .223 is not one of them, so the rifle is not a deer rifle under those rules. The listing notes the rifle is drilled and tapped and has integral swivel studs for a sling, so the receiver is ready for a scope and a carrying strap.
