CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS

Ohio buyers tend to want one pistol that does the carry job and the nightstand job without fuss, and CZ's new DUTY 4.0 is aimed right at that. CZ's new-generation striker-fired 9x19 sits on a serialized internal chassis, with a fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame that is modular. The slide is direct-mount optics ready with fixed sights kept on, the barrel is 4 inches and unthreaded, and at 33 mm wide it stays flat on the belt in Columbus or Cleveland traffic.

The compact DUTY 4.0 C holds 15+1, or 17+1 with the extended base plate, weighs 770 g and stands 135 mm; the full-size DUTY 4.0 F holds 17+1 (19+1 extended) at 780 g and 143 mm. Order either with a manual thumb safety as the MS model or without. The refined SFDA trigger comes in at 25±4 N, roughly 5.6 lbs, with a 4 mm reset. Akron, Canton, Toledo and Lorain shooters can mount a Holosun, Aimpoint or Shield dot straight to the slide. New release, $729 MSRP.

Capacity on the compact is 15+1, with a 17+1 option through the extended base plate. Height is 5.3 in (135 mm) and the empty weight 27.2 oz (770 g). If you carry, this is the DUTY to look at; if you mostly shoot at the range, see the F.

The chassis is serial-numbered and modular, which is CZ's way of making the polymer grip swappable. The frame itself is fiberglass-reinforced polymer, 1.3 in (33 mm) wide, on a 4-inch barrel and a 7.4 in (188 mm) overall length. The SFDA trigger breaks at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) and resets in 0.16 in (4 mm). Optics mount directly to the slide; the photos from CZ show Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield footprints.

This is the version with a manual thumb safety. The three internal safeties (firing pin block, trigger safety, trigger bar safety) are the same as on every DUTY; the lever is an extra for people who were trained on one or simply want one.

Who is it for: concealed carry where your state allows it, home defense, and range time that does not need a full-size grip. If you already shoot a P-10, the DUTY is the next step in the same family, with a new chassis and the optics done right.

Questions buyers ask: How does buying the DUTY 4.0 work in Ohio? Ohio has no purchase permit and no waiting period. You name an Ohio dealer at checkout, the pistol ships there, and the dealer runs the federal background check at pickup. What is the difference between the DUTY 4.0 MS and the standard model? The MS adds a manual thumb safety on top of the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety. Everything else, including barrel, slide and capacity, is the same. What does MS mean on the CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS? Manual safety. It adds a frame-mounted lever to the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety that every DUTY has.
